Trip Idea This weekend

If you want to “get out of town” this weekend consider taking the 30 minute trip to Afton Mountain to visit one of our littler known treasures, Swannanoa Castle (Read about the history here). I have been visiting this castle since high school and was saddened when they sold it at one point and it was no longer open to the public. Good news!!! It’s open and you can visit this weekend! $8 per person and kids 12 and under are FREE.

We went last year and took a bunch of pictures. It’s really beautiful, but it’s in pretty bad disrepair these days. Even through the disrepair you can really see what it used to be and what it can be again. This castle has the most beautiful marble fire places and interesting light fixtures.
