Unexpected Household Items With Expiration Dates

My husband and I were very surprised when we realized that our smoke detectors in our home were expired. We had no idea that they had an expiration date! 10 years is the life span. After realizing this I did some research and found that there are many other household items that have expiration dates!

Here is a list of the most surprising:

1) bedroom slippers have a lifespan of 6 months

2) pillows 2-3 years

3) towels 1-3 years

4) hairbrush 1 year

5) pacifier 2-5 weeks

6) power strips 1-2 years

There are others that might surprise you and you can find them here and read why these things expire. Here is the article from Bright Side.

We also had a conversation with Jay Davis, C’ville Fire Marshal. He told us about other things that had expiration dates and we told him a few that he didn’t know. Plus he answers a listeners question about how to dispose of these expired household items.
