Robo/Scammer Calls

We’ve all been getting them…annoying phone calls from telemarketers and scammers. It is infuriating! You registered your phone number on the Do Not Call List and they are still calling your phone! So, what do you do?  Good question! Most of the info that I’ve read says to ignore calls that come from an “unknown” or “blocked” number. In general if it’s important or someone really needs to speak with you, they will leave a message. Most telemarketers don’t bother leaving a message.

However, if they do leave a message and it’s an “urgent” message saying that you’ll go to jail if you don’t send them money, don’t fall for it! I’ve received that call now at least 6 times and I’m NOT in jail. Trust me, the police know where I live and where you live and if they need you, they will come and get you. 🙂

The FTC has some great info on their website www.ftc.gov about scams happening now, how to register for the Do Not Call List and information on reporting these calls, They also have the link to the Do Not Call List if you need to register your phone number.

Les Sinclair mentioned creating a Google Voice phone number so that you can give that # away when you fill out online surveys or to people that you don’t know. It’s a number that you can completely ignore reserving your personal number for friends and family and personal calls. It’s for iOS, Android and computers.

Have any other advice or tips? Please leave a comment below. If nothing else, know that we’re in this together and you’re NOT alone!
