Q: Researchers from Canada say they’ve found that we smell with this just as much as with our nose?

A: our eyes

HOW SIGHT AFFECTS SMELL: Do roses smell sweeter when they’re delivered with a loving message? New research says yes. Researchers from Canada say they’ve found that we smell with our eyes just as much as with our nose. To find this, researchers recruited 50 participants and asked them to smell four different, pungent smells. Each smell was presented with a positive or negative label displayed on a computer screen. All participants described the smells presented with positive labels as pleasant and edible, and those with negative labels as unpleasant and inedible. Researchers say the results show, “that odor perception is not objective: it is affected by cognitive interpretation that occurs when one looks at a label.” (Daily Mail)
