Q: Research from the UK says that when we trust someone we imagine this about them?

A: That they look like us

WHEN WE TRUST SOMEONE WE IMAGINE THEY LOOK LIKE US: How do you choose who to trust? New research finds not only do we tend to trust people that look like us, but we also imagine those we trust look like us. To find this, researchers from the U.K. used a computer program to blend each participant’s face with two other faces. They asked participants to identify how much of their face had been used in the two computer generated faces and then had them play a game in which one of the faces would betray the participant’s trust while the other would reciprocate it. Researchers found that regardless of how physically similar the faces actually were to participants, they always reported after the game that the face that was more trustworthy looked more like them. Researchers say the results show that our experienced reality is actually heavily shaped by our social interactions and may not be as objectively real as we think it is. (Daily Mail)
