Q: New research says that doing this a lot can cause cavities?

A: working out

WORKING OUT MAY CAUSE CAVITIES: If you’re a fitness nut with some unexplained cavities your workouts may be to blame. A new study finds that triathletes have significantly higher levels of tooth erosion than non-athletes. Additionally, the more an athlete trained, the more cavities they had. Researchers say this may happen for two reasons: because endurance athletes consume a high number of carbohydrates which can alter the mouth’s pH level, and also because breathing through the mouth dries it out and leads to less saliva. The scientists who conducted the study are currently testing special toothpastes and mouth rinses on athletes to see if a product could help them curb the tooth erosion issue. (Fox)
