Q: New research finds you can help cure your insomnia by doing this for a week?

A: Camping

CAMPING CAN HELP CURE INSOMNIA: New research finds you can re-sync your body by spending a week camping outdoors, away from electric lighting. To find this, researchers from the University of Colorado monitored eight adults with wrist monitors that recorded their light exposure, activity, and when they were sleeping. For the first week participants when about their normal lives, then had their melatonin levels recorded. The next week the participants when camping in Colorado and had no access to any type of artificial light. Researchers found that all participants – early birds and night owls alike – experienced a biological synch with nature. Researchers say the participants’ melatonin levels synched with the exposure to sunlight, making it easier for subjects to awaken and be alert in the morning. (Fox)
