Q: New research finds that working out helps you maintain this as you age?

A: Smell

EXERCISE HELPS US MAINTAIN OUR SENSE OF SMELL AS WE AGE: Smell that? If you’ve been exercising you probably do. New research finds that working out helps maintain our sense of smell as we age. To find this, researchers followed 1,600 people age 50 and over, and found that 28-percent of people developed problems with their sense of smell during the research period. Researchers say the more participants exercised, the less they had issues with their sense of smell. Just one exercise session a week was found to help reduce the risk of the sense of smell fading, and the researchers found that men are more likely to lose their sense of smell than women. Researchers say they’re not sure why exercise helps maintain the sense of smell, but it may be because it improves brain function. (Daily Mail)
