Q: New French research finds you’re more likely to eat unhealthy foods the day after this happens?

A: The football team you’re rooting for loses.

YOU’RE LIKELY TO EAT MORE CALORIES THE DAY AFTER YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES: New French research finds you’re more likely to eat unhealthy foods the day after the football team you’re rooting for loses. To find this, researchers monitored the calorie in-take of fans of various teams, and found that fans of losing teams consumed ten-percent more calories than usual the day after the game. Additionally, the more their team lost by, the more food people ate. The fans of winning teams were found to decreased their caloric intake by five-percent the next day. Researchers say this may happen because people adopt the identities of the teams they root for, and taking wins and losses personally affects self-regulation. (Men’s Health)
