Q: Doing this in a movie theater makes you forget new ads that you view on the screen?

A: Eating popcorn

EATING MOVE POPCORN MAKES YOU FORGET ADS YOU SEE IN THE THEATRE: Who would’ve thought that snacking could save you money in the long run? It turns out eating popcorn in a movie theater makes you forget new ads you view on the screen because the munching messes with your “inner speech.” Researchers from Germany say advertisements from new brands usually make an impression on us because our lips and tongues begin to automatically stimulate the pronunciation of a new name. However, if you’re chewing you can stop this automatic behavior and make the ad less effective. Researchers went as far as to say that in the future, popcorn may be replaced by something that requires less chewing in order to please advertisers. (Daily Mail)
