Q: An analysis of studies reveals student performance can actually be influences by this in the classroom?

A: the way a classroom is decorated

CLASSROOM DECORATIONS MAY IMPACT LEARNING: There are no rules for how a classroom is to be decorated, but maybe there should be. An analysis of studies reveals student performance can actually be influences by the way a classroom is decorated. Study author Sapna Cheryan says that certain everyday objects in the classroom can acts as symbols that inadvertently signal which students are most valued. For example, pictures of presidents (all men), could discourage girls from pursuing an interest in politics. Balance is key, and  having positive images of female leaders through history, women in science, and strong minority figures can improve performance for students in those groups. Cheryan adds, “The goal is to decorate the classroom in a way that evokes the idea that all students are valued learners. It’s one more thing to think about when it comes to how kids are educated.” (Yahoo)
