Q: According to Men’s Health, if you smiled in photos when you were young you are less likely to do this?

A: get a divorce

This is really odd, but if you only belong to one or two social media sites, you stand a far better chance of staying married happily ever after than if you are active on a lot of them. And that’s not all. There are several other weird indicators you won’t get divorced, all of which are based on scientific research, reports Men’s Health magazine. Five signs you won’t get divorced — believe it or not:

1. You smiled in photos when you were young.
People who smiled in photos as a kid and later for the high school and college yearbooks are far less likely to get divorced than their sourpuss friends, according to researchers from DePauw University. Why? Those who smile in photos–and this especially applies to women–appear to be more stable and emotionally positive, and these personality characteristics improve the likelihood of marriage stability.

2. Neither of you once lived with another partner.
If one of you cohabitated with someone else, your chances of divorce escalate an eye-popping 209 percent, according to researchers from The Ohio State University. Why? Such behavior shows a lack of commitment and an ability to end a serious relationship. That mentality could carry over into your marriage.

3. You have sons.
Married couples who have at least two sons are 17 percent less likely to divorce than couples who have two daughters, according to a study of 43,000 marriages conducted by researchers at ColumbiaUniversity. Having one son lowers the divorce risk by 3 percent. Why? Men are more involved with and attached to their marriage if they fathered sons.

4. You share many of the same Facebook friends, but those shared friends don’t all know each other.
This is called unlinked circles of shared friends and might include college buddies, family members, work colleagues or old high school pals, according to researchers from CornellUniversity. Why? This shows evidence of deep ties and stability in a relationship.

5. You are both active on just one or two social media networks–and no more than that.
The more social media sites you both use, such as Facebook, Twitter, Vine, Instagram and Snapchat, the less satisfied you will feel about your marital relationship, according to researchers from OxfordUniversity. Why? It appears that maintaining so many social channels can undermine the bond you share as a couple.
