March Madness Costs You $211 . . . and the Ten Best Cities for Basketball Fans

According to a new survey, the average March Madness fan will spend $211 watching the tournament this month.  That includes everything from beer to how much you spend on your bracket.  Here are four more stats from the survey . . .

  1. 21% of us have watched a game at work . . . 11% have taken a vacation day to watch . . . and 8% have called in sick.
  1. 8% of people have had someone fill out a bracket FOR them . . . and 7% just automate it, so the computer fills it out.
  1. The top four foods we want to eat while we watch are pizza . . . chips and dip . . . nachos . . . and Buffalo wings.
  1. And 9% of people who do brackets say that when they don’t know which team to pick, they choose based on the color of their uniforms.

WalletHub.com also ranked the best and worst cities to be a basketball fan.  Los Angeles is number one, partly because it has two NBA teams and a bunch of division-one college teams.

The top ten are L.A. . . . Boston . . . San Antonio . . . Salt Lake City . . . Oakland . . . Cleveland . . . Miami . . . Washington D.C. . . . Chicago . . . and Orlando
