A new survey found that men today are three times more likely to cry in public than their fathers.  Here are some more results from the survey.

  1. The average man has cried in public 14 times in his adult life.  Their fathers cried an average of five times in their lives.
  1. 40% of men have cried in front of other people in the past year.
  1. The average man cries 30 times a year total, between his public and private sessions.  It lasts an average of two minutes and 18 seconds each time.
  1. 80% of men have cried from a TV show . . . 20% have cried over a news story . . . and 13% have cried because of sports.
  1. Half of men have tried to explain crying by saying there was something in their eye . . . one in three have tried to hide it by yawning . . . 10% have blamed their contacts . . . and 3% have claimed they got hot sauce in their eye.

The survey also found that women cry 62 times a year, which is twice as often as men and an average of more than once a week.
