Q: A recent study says that being unable to do this can cause you stress and anxiety ?

A: ANSWER YOUR PHONE

BEING UNABLE TO ANSWER YOUR PHONE CAN CAUSE YOU STRESS & ANXIETY: There are some major perks to carrying around a cell phone, but also some things that are not so great. In a new study, iPhone users were told to work on a mentally demanding task. Then their phones rang a few feet away.Participants were not permitted to get up, and as a result they all experienced a spike in blood pressure, heart rate and anxiety levels. They also performed their task more poorly when their phone was out of reach compared to when it was safely within reach. Dr. David Greenfield, study leader, says, “Smartphones put us in an ever-increasing state of hyper-vigilence…this keeps the adrenals constantly activated and cortisol levels elevated.” All that stress is bound to affect your mental performance.
