Q: A new study reveals that the way you do this impacts your mood?

A: walk

CHANGING THE WAY YOU WALK CAN MAKE YOU HAPPIER: To lift your mood, change your gait. A new study reveals that the way you walk impacts your mood. Participants were told to either walk in a “sad” style– slumped posture with shoulder hanging forward and little arm swing, or in a “happy” style– more arm movement plus an up and down bounce. Then afterwards all were given a memory test. “Sad” walkers remembered more negative words from the memory test than “happy” walkers. Study author Dr. Nikolaus Troje explains that depressed people tend to remember negative events and focus more on them, which can create a bad mood. However, changing postures or how you move can influence the way you process information and make you happier overall. (Men’s Health)
