Q: A new study finds that teenage girls who do this are less likely to fight or be in a gang. What is it?

A: exercise

TEEN GIRLS WHO EXERCISE ARE LESS LIKELY TO BE VIOLENT: A new study finds that teenage girls who exercise regularly are less likely to fight or be in a gang. To find this, researchers from Columbia University analyzed survey results from nearly 1,500-students at four inner-city high schools in New York. Students were asked about their specific exercise habits and if they’d carried a weapon on the past 30 days or were in a gang fight. The results showed that students who reported exercising regularly had decreased odds of being involved in violence-related behaviors. Researchers hope their findings will help with the development of violence interventions. (Psych Central)
