I’ve never been a big Mardi Gras celebrator nor have I been one to give much up for Lent. Honestly I didn’t know much about it and that’s really why it wasn’t on my radar. However, over the past year I’ve learned more about Mardi Gras and the weeks leading up to Lent and it’s all thanks to Great Harvest Bread Company! I got to go to the kitchen at Great Harvest last year and make a King Cake which is a pastry that people eat on Fat Tuesday. It’s so good…dough, cinnamon, icing and sprinkles, but there’s more to it than just taste. The ring of dough on the King Cake is supposed to represent the route that the wise men took to prevent King Herod from finding baby Jesus. To celebrate that, there is a tiny plastic baby Jesus in all of the King Cakes and whoever finds it gets to bring the King Cake next year. 🙂

Even though I have no clue what I’m doing, it still tasted really good! Ha ha
