Q: Science has now proven that stress can make this disappear. What is it?

A: Hair color

STRESS CAN MAKE HAIR COLOR DISAPPEAR: Science has confirmed what people have thought for a long time– stress can remove the color from one’s hair. To find this, researchers from New York Univeristy found that hair and skin color are controlled by melanocyte stem cells which are located at the base of hair follicles. Researchers found the stress causes these stem cells to disappear or relocate to the skin, but that they do not get replaces once they leave the base of the hair follicles. As a result the hair turns white. Researchers say that grey hair caused by aging is the result of exhaustion and loss of the stem cells, and so it makes sense that stress can cause similar results.
