I have had people ask about eclipse viewing glasses and viewing parties and it seems there is no shortage of the parties, but the glasses are kind of hard to come by. I spoke w/the Jefferson Madison Regional Library and the Fluvanna Library and I was told that they both have the glasses. However, the JMRL branches are only giving their glasses out to people that come to their eclipse viewing parties and eclipse events. Fluvanna County Library is already out of the free glasses they had, but they will have plenty for their event on Monday. Here are links to both of their calendars for their eclipse events. JMRL and Fluvanna .
Something to keep in mind when purchasing eclipse viewing glasses ~ not all of them are good for your eyes and some will not protect you. Here is some info from nasa.gov so that you can find glasses that are approved for the big event! WalMart and Lowes apparently have them, but I have no idea if they are official glasses.
Here’s a guide to watching the eclipse and instructions on how to make your very own pinhole projector to safely watch the event!
Planning to take pictures of the eclipse with your smartphone? CNN has tips here. LA Times has tips here.
Do you have any other tips on where to get approved glasses for the eclipse??
