Confessions Part 2

So if you didn’t read “Confessions Part I” this will make sense if you go below and read that first.

Confessions Part II:
Now that my New Years Resolution is made, I am trying a bunch of new things for the first time and I am hoping through these first time things that I also make a difference and not just do it because I want to. If I can have it both ways, then I am a very happy camper. 🙂

One really big step this year is going to Haiti. My 16 yo daughter heard that some people from church were going to Haiti and she immediately said “I wanna go!” I jumped on that and said “okay, we’re going”. So, now I guess we’re going to Haiti!!! This is a first on many levels for me and my daughter. This will be the first time that we’ve ever flown in an airplane, the first time that we’ve been out of the country and the first time that we’ve ever been to Haiti. As a kid I remember my mom taking a trip to Peru and she was changed for life. I am hoping for a similar experience, not just for me, but for everyone that goes on the trip. I am really hoping for some growing for my daughter and a chance for her to really see what others go through. I am so PROUD of her for wanting to go and work with the kids at the orphanage there. So many children were left without parents after the earthquake and they need smiling faces and loving arms to hold them. I am so happy that we will be doing that for them.In the meantime, between now and July , my daughter and I will be doing odd jobs and fundraising for our trip. We have to raise $1000 a piece just to go, but beyond that we are hoping to raise at least an extra $3000 to build a house while we are there in Haiti! If you have any really good tips on the best way to raise a good chunk of money, I am open to any and all ideas. We have been volunteering our time at John Paul Jones Arena at the basketball games to raise money, but we need other avenues too.

That’s all for now. More to come as it develops. I will keep you updated on the fundraisers too!
