Who Are These Christmas Artist?

So every year we play these Christmas songs from people that none of us have ever heard of before. However, they seem to be the most popular songs every year. So, I went on a Google trip to find more info on these seemingly one hit wonder artists that we only hear from at Christmas time.

Gayla Peevey: “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” She recorded that song in grade school and helped her hometown zoo raise money to buy a hippo for the zoo! The story is really pretty neat. You can read it here.

The Royal Guardsmen: They sing “Snoopy’s Christmas”. They are a rock band from the 60’s and they have a documentary coming out in the spring about this song!

Jose Feliciano: His hit “Feliz Navidad” is one of the favorites on Z95. He started playing music at a very young age as one of 11 boys growing up blind!

Lindley “Spike” Jones: “All I Want For Christmas is My 2 Front Teeth”. This one has been around for a very long time. Spike, his nickname, was given to him b/c he was so skinny he resembled this

Lou Monte: “Dominic The Donkey”. Lou was a performer since an early age and even went on to host his own radio and television show. This Christmas song wasn’t the only one that he was well known for. Read more on Lou Monte.

As I continue my research I will bring you more on these Christmas artists. If you have one that you’re curious about, please email me at sherry@z95.net and I will see what I can find!
