25 Years In Radio!!!

I was thinking back to when I first started in radio and realized that THIS YEAR IS MY 25th YEAR! What?? How is that even possible? Even though I didn’t do 25 consecutive years in radio I started almost right out of high school and after 4 years of climbing and finding the right job I took a break to raise my family. It’s hard to find a baby sitter willing to watch your kids at 4am, so I did other jobs like watching kids at home, music director for my church, teaching preschool music and other various jobs that fit around my family schedule.

After 6 years out of radio and before my last child was born, I decided I was ready to jump back in. I missed it so much. Problem was that radio had changed so much in the short time that I was gone and I could only find part-time work in radio. I did part-time for about 5 years before there was a full-time opening. I jumped at the chance to do afternoons on Z95.1. Thank you Les Sinclair for taking a chance on me 10 years ago!!! I can say that I have found my home in radio here w/Les, Jacquie,  Marc, Mark and Wendy. This station, the music, the people, the listeners have embraced me and given me the room to grow. By the way, minus a short stint at Q101 in Harrisonburg, all of my years in radio have been in the C’ville market at 97.5 3WV, 102.3 Country (NOW 99.7), Lite 101.9 (Now HOT 101.9) and Z95.1!!!

Thank you Charlottesville for 25 great years in radio!
