HARRISONBURG, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Virginia Association of Broadcasters is sponsoring a team of student journalists from James Madison University at this summer’s political conventions. A team of six from JMU’s School of Media Arts and Design has been in Milwaukee this week covering the Republican National Convention. They’re posting their audio, video and print stories on a dedicated website, open first to VAB station members for 12 hours, then everyone else after that time.

The students are rising 3rd year Abigail Allard, JMU Breeze TV news director Alexa Bonilla, 3rd year double major Jordan Cooper, rising 4th year McLaren Reed, rising 3rd year Eleanor Shaw, and rising 4th year McKenna Schonbrun. Some of the stories they’ve covered are how the delegation was fired up after the weekend Trump assassination attempt, reaction of Virginia delegates at the convention to the pick of JD Vance as Vice President, and they’re on top of reaction to Trump’s acceptance speech.

The same team will travel to Chicago next month for the August 19-22 Democratic National Convention.
