UVA Health Children’s Expanding its NICU

CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UVA Health announces an expansion of its neonatal intensive care unit in three years. A UVA Health release says this will “ensure newborns across Virginia and beyond with critical illnesses and complex medical conditions can access world-class, highly specialized care”. UVA Health Children’s is adding 40 beds to its neonatal intensive care unit at UVA Health University Medical Center, bringing the total number of beds in the unit to 100. The expanded unit is slated to open in 2028, after which UVA Health Children’s plans to expand its pediatric intensive care unit.
