UVA Competes Against North Carolina on the Field, but Teams Up for Hurricane Relief

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – While UVA takes on North Carolina in Saturday’s home football game, the Virginia Athletics department is calling on fans to join forces in supporting Hurricane Helene relief efforts for the Tar Heel state.

Donations can be dropped off at the following locations and times:

Friday, October 25:

  • Lower Disharoon Park Lot: 7-9 a.m. and 3-8 p.m.

Saturday, October 26:

  • Scott Stadium East Lot (Geldard Drive behind AFC): 8 a.m. to noon
  • Scott Stadium West Lot (Alderman Road next to Gooch Houses): 8 a.m. to noon
  • Lower Disharoon Park Lot: 8 a.m. to noon

Requested Items (new items only):

  • Toiletries: toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, toilet paper
  • First Aid Supplies
  • Cleaning Supplies: paper towels, trash bags, bleach, gloves
  • Baby Items: baby wipes, diapers, formula
  • Dog/Cat Food
  • Emergency Supplies: flashlights, batteries, coolers, shovels

ALCOVA Mortgage, Hilldrup, and Cav Futures are supporting this effort by providing collection sites, transportation, and other logistical assistance.  Hillrup will transport the donations to the United Way of Forsyth. For more information, visit UnitedWayNC.org.

Those unable to attend can donate online through the UW Helps NC Fund, which supports hurricane recovery efforts.
