UVA Bookstore Opens NIL Zone Benefitting Student Athletes

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia bookstore has opened a nook at both the Central Grounds main store, and at the Sabre Shop in the Aquatics and Fitness Center on football days where you can have a jersey made with your favorite athlete’s name and number on it. UVA Bookstore Marketing Manager Derik Divers says not every athlete is a Livvy Dunne who can sell enough to afford upfront costs of merchandise. The bookstore has set up a system called “The NIL Zone” where they pay those upfront costs and print the name and number of the athlete for whom it’s requested. He says they have licensing agreements with some 200 student-athletes, and the athlete’s name and number printed results in a kickback to that athlete.

You can purchase in-person at the main bookstore on Central Grounds, or at the Sabre Shop on football days in the Aquatics and Fitness Center across from Scott Stadium. You can also order online and have something shipped to you by clicking here.
