CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The U.S. Marshals Service has issued a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Virginia high school football coach Travis Turner, who is wanted on pornography charges in Big Stone Gap, located in Southwest Virginia.
Police went looking for Turner last month as part of an investigation. While on their way to his home on Nov. 20, officers learned before arrival that Turner, 46, had run off into the woods behind his house armed with a firearm.
Turner faces five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor. Federal investigators are joining Virginia State Police, which began the investigation.
“VSP is still searching for Turner with the assistance of the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service,” state police spokesperson Robin Lawson said in statement.
Tips can be reported to 911, Virginia State Police or the USMS tips line at 1-877-WANTED2 or online usmarshals.gov/tips.
Authorities said he may be armed, so caution is advised.
