CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – As Charlottesville Police continue to search for a suspect in the April 17 Old Preston Ave. shooting, City Police Chief Mike Kochis revealed a key new detail of the investigation and urged the suspect to turn himself in.

“That entire incident was caught on video, and it’s just a matter of time,” Kochis said.

24-year-old Kevin Desjuan Anderson is wanted on two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of a use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. The charges stem from a shooting in the 100 block of Old Preston Avenue that left two people wounded.

“One way or the other, he’ll be taken into custody,” Kochis said. “And I promise he’ll have his day in court.”

Officers responded to a call in the 100 block of Old Preston shortly before 2 a.m. on April 17.

They arrived and found an adult male who had been shot. He was transported to UVA Health with a non-life threatening injury.

As officers were with him at the hospital, an adult female drove herself to the same hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound as well.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. C. Huber at (434) 970-3287. Individuals may also provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000.

“If you know where this young man is you need to call us an let us know, because we need to get him off the street very quickly,” Kochis said.
