Louisa teacher runs Jack Jouett’s route to raise scholarship money for county students

SHADWELL, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Louisa County High School English teacher Kate Fletcher has completed another Lion Pride Run. Fletcher Tuesday morning arrived at Monticello at 10:15am after running the route of Jack Jouett’s ride 40 miles from the Louisa community of Cuckoo south of Mineral. Referred to some as the “Paul Revere of the South”, Jouett in 1781 rode that route to Monticello to alert Thomas Jefferson, Virginia’s outgoing governor, the British calvary was coming to capture him.

Fletcher, an avid runner who’s been doing these runs to raise scholarship money for Louisa County students who might otherwise not be able to afford college, starting the Lion Pride runs in 2016. Two years ago she made national news running from Louisa to the Reflecting Pool in DC.
