Fredericksburg City and Spotsylvania County Public Schools (FCPS) will open two hours late on Wednesday, April 9, in response to a shooting in Spotsylvania County that left three people dead and three others hospitalized Tuesday.

In a statement released Tuesday night, they cited “the profound impact this incident has had on members of our school community” as the reason for the delay. The school system said the additional time would allow staff “to prepare our buildings and staff to welcome students with the care and support they may need during this difficult time.”
