CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Weather forecasters have chances of fire and frost prominent over the next 24 hours.

The National Weather Service has the area under an increased fire risk from late morning through late afternoon Thursday, then there’s a frost advisory from 2- 9 a.m. Friday.

First, the combination of recent dry conditions, relative humidity falling to 25 to 30 percent, and sustained west winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 25 mph will likely result in an elevated
threat for the rapid spread of fires Thursday. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly grow out of control under these conditions.

Then, get ready to cover sensitive vegetation overnight for possible frost. The National Weather Service said temperatures as low as 33 will result in frost formation that could kill sensitive outdoor plants if left uncovered.
