AUGUSTA VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — This past weekend, the Augusta County Sheriff’s office received reports regarding illegal dumping of used tires into the Middle River.

On Saturday, twenty used tires were dumped near the Verona bridge and the next day there were an estimated 50-60 tires thrown in 3 different locations.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is investigating these incidents and asking residents in the areas of River Bend Road and Bald Rock Road to review any surveillance footage from the evening and early morning hours surrounding these dates.

Anyone within this vicinity of these two areas that has video surveillance that shows suspicious activity, vehicles or persons observed please contact the Augusta County Sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Donald Smith said that illegal dumping not only harms our natural resources but creates unnecessary cleanup costs and hazards.

Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 245-5333.
