CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A dire hoarding situation has left the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA (CASPCA) with liberated cats, a few of which are already up for adoption.

The massive feline influx followed a call from a regional partner. Rescuers arrived to find 50 cats living in squalor and neglect at an undisclosed North Carolina location south of Danville, VA.

“This rescue operation exemplifies our organization’s unwavering dedication to the cause of animal welfare,” said Taylor Reinson, Director of Animal Care at CASPCA. “Our primary objective
is to provide these cats with a fresh start, free from the hardships of neglect and suffering, and to ensure they regain their health and find the loving homes they all deserve.”

Upon arrival, each feline underwent thorough medical examinations and received essential treatments tailored to their individual needs. Some required extensive medical interventions, including surgeries and intensive care.

“These cats will undergo thorough veterinary care, and some will require close monitoring and treatment to stabilize and ensure their long-term health; we are accepting donations to
CASPCA’s Medical Fund to cover the costs of care, so if anyone is interested in helping, please consider donating,” emphasized Taylor Reinson.

The cats’ arrival coincides with the Empty the Shelters adoption special, under which adoption fees for dogs and cats older than 6 months are just $25. Full adoption information and forms are found at caspca.org.
