CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Charlottesville mother is asking for the public’s help as authorities continue searching for her son, an Army specialist who has been missing from Fort Bragg for over two weeks.
The mother, Pamela Anderson, posted on social media on July 9 that she last spoke with her 25-year-old son, Army Spc. Sayveon Anderson, on June 27. In a recent Facebook post, she said that military officials contacted her June 29 after he failed to report for formation.
“If anyone has seen Sayveon or has any information about his whereabouts, please contact local law enforcement or military police or me immediately,” she said in the post.
Seeking answers, Anderson and other family members traveled from Charlottesville to the Fayetteville, North Carolina, area earlier this week to check on his apartment. After no one answered the door, the apartment’s leasing office advised the family to request a welfare check.
Sayveon Anderson graduated from Charlottesville High School in 2019, a Charlottesville City Schools spokesperson told Cville Right Now. He was recently married and is expecting his first child in August. The family had planned to hold a baby shower this past weekend in Charlottesville.
Fort Bragg has released the following statement:
“The 3rd Corps Sustainment Command is working in coordination with local law enforcement agencies and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to locate Spc. Sayveon Anderson and ensure his safe return.”
Anyone with information about Anderson’s whereabouts is urged to contact local law enforcement, call Army CID at 910-391-4911, or submit an anonymous tip through the agency’s online reporting system.
Anderson said her family remains hopeful someone will come forward with information that helps bring her son home safely.
