Albemarle schools Thursday alert was false alarm


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle schools say communication to parents and community Thursday about possible social media threats turned out to be a misunderstanding. Albemarle High School was listed among a list of schools circulating on Snapchat and Tik Tok that had experienced certain levels of violence… a list that ranged from fights to school shootings. Some had reported the list the school officials, and Albemarle Police were able to find the the list was not a threat, even though they couldn’t determine the origin.

Several other school systems were involved in similar investigation including Orange, Buckingham, Cumberland, and Prince Edward counties.
