DILLWYN, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – If you heard or felt a bit of a rumble shortly after 1pm, you experienced a small earthquake centered in Buckingham County. The US Geological Survey reports a 3.0 magnitude earthquake shook the ground from an epicenter a little over 4 miles south of Dillwyn at 1:08pm. The epicenter was pretty near the surface just 8KM underground, which is about 5 miles. A USGS response map shows the shake was experienced mostly north of the epicenter with multiple reports in the Charlottesville area. Reports show it was felt as far north as Stanardsville, as far west as Lexington and Lynchburg, and as far east as Charles City County east of Richmond. There are no damage reports at this time.
