CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WINA) – Warrenton Police Chief Michael Kochis was named as Charlottesville’s new chief of police during City Council’s Dec 5, 2022, regular meeting.
“Looking at the rating of the various committees of the various candidates, it became clear that one candidate stood above the others in terms of the rating, and that candidate was Michael Kochis,” City Manager Michael Rogers told Council. “It comes back to glowing reports in terms of his approachability, his engagement and commitment to community.”
Kochis briefly appeared on a Zoom call, during which he said he and the city have a lot of work to do and he’s ready to get started.
