CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WINA) – The Central Virginia Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association and the Police Benevolent Foundation have joined forces to request financial support for Officer Trevis Wood of the Charlottesville Police Department.

On Monday, October 30, Officer Wood was attempting to serve a detention order and take a juvenile into custody. A struggle ensued when the 16-year-old male refused to leave, with Officer Wood assaulted and the suspect taking off on foot.

Officer Wood suffered a serious stroke as a result of the injuries and was eventually flown to UVA Medical Center. Officer Wood currently does not have function on the left side of his body as a result of this incident and will face a long road to recovery.

Donations can be made here. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to Officer Wood, who has 3 children, ages 19, 18, and 17 years old. He is engaged to be married to his fiancé Kelly Hargreaves.
