(CHARLOTTESVILLE – WINA)    City councilors are debating a proposal involving the abandoned K-Mart and Gold’s Gym properties on Hydraulic Road.   Attorney Valerie Long represents Riverbend Development, which wants to build a project called Hillsdale Place.

Long supports a zoning amendment that would allow a restaurant with a drive-through window.  She recalls being a mother with two very young kids, and the value of a drive-through option.  Councilors Heather Hill, Wes Bellamy and Mike Signer support the project, but Kathy Galvin is not on board.  The council expects to vote on the matter July 16th.
