Cavaliers Fall to Fighting Irish, 76-54

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Virginia Cavaliers (10-3, 1-1 ACC) fell on the road to ACC foe Notre Dame (6-7, 1-1 ACC) on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 30) at Purcell Pavillion.

The Hoos shot 38 percent from the field, including 2-for-11 from 3-point range, while Notre Dame shot 51 percent in the contest.

Reece Beekman (15 points, four assists) and Ryan Dunn (13 points, 6-for-9) led the charge for the Cavaliers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Fighting Irish opened the game by launching on a 13-0 run, which included three straight 3-pointers from the home side. Notre Dame finished the first half with a 41-24 lead over the Hoos after shooting 70 percent from the field and going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc, while UVA shot only 26 percent.

Virginia looked to cut the deficit quickly in the second half, scoring seven unanswered coming out of the break before the two sides went on to trade buckets. Midway through the second half, the Irish sparked a 12-2 run to put the game out of reach for Virginia.

Notre Dame hit 11 3-pointers on the afternoon while UVA only hit two from beyond the arc.
