A COVID Safe Trip to Mathews, VA!

A COVID Safe Trip to Mathews, VA!

I wanted to get away for the 4th of July weekend this year, but I wanted to do it safely. I’m sure many of you feel the same about summer travel! I was especially missing being near water (my apartment pool is still closed), but I also couldn’t quite fathom being on a crowded beach just yet.

My friend and I ended up spending the 4th of July weekend down in Mathews County, VA! It’s just under three hours from Charlottesville. It’s a small, mostly rural part of the state, but it’s also home to a really cute little downtown area and some beautiful and quiet public beaches. My friend and I enjoyed some delicious meals, all of the sunshine and beach time we wanted, and a very quiet and safe weekend. Mathews has had some of the lowest amounts of COVID-19 cases in the state, and you won’t find any crowds here!

Here’s a few pictures from my weekend:

More details about where I stayed and restaurants I enjoyed can be found HERE on my personal blog. 🙂
