How did you get into Radio? Originally from Danville, Va. where I first started in radio at WBTM.  I didn’t get into radio, radio got into me.  In high school, we had a guest speaker from a local radio station.  He spoke to the class about radio advertising.  I had a lot of questions so he invited me to come to the radio station after school one day.  When I got to his office, he handed me some AP copy and said read this.  I started to read the copy to myself and he said no, read it out loud.  When I finished reading the story, he asked “when do you want to start”.    That’s how I “got into radio”.

Claim to fame?  I was the first black female radio personality in Danville, Va.  I was also the first Black Female Program Director here in Charlottesville.

What are some of your accomplishments?  I started giving away school supplies to the less fortunate here in C’ville.  Thanks to Walmart, this was a very successful event.

Volunteering at Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.

Do you have any favorite quotes?  Women are like tea bags.  We never know how strong we are until we get in hot water.

What’s you most embarrassing radio moment?  There was a small earthquake when I was on the air at my first radio job.  I called my mom and asked her if she felt it all the while, not knowing my mike was open.

What’s your number one hobby?  Plants.  I love them and love taking care of them.  If I had my way, I would have nothing but plants in my house, well maybe a couple of chairs.
